Y6 New Topic - 'Why was winning the Battle of Britain in 1940 so important?'
Year 6 started off their new learning journey - 'Why was winning the Battle of Britain in 1940 so important?' - with a morning of activities to immerse them in the time, including playing games from the 1940s (marbles, conkers and hopscotch), shelter building and making carrot cookies over the open fire. The cookies were delicious, as was the hot chocolate!
On our school visit to Fort Nelson, we practised our drills during our WW2 immersion day at Fort Nelson. We were trained in marching drill, recognising aircraft and putting out fires following a bombing raid.
